Specific Admission Requirements |
To be available for applying the Biochemistry Master Degree Programme, anyone has to:
1) be graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary, Pharmacy or Faculty of Science including the divisions for Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Chemistry, Medical Sciences.
2)be graduated from a 4-year university and/or equivalent programme.
3) to have at least 55 points in the Examination for Postgraduate Academic Staff (ALES), or any equivalent point in international examinations such as Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Those necessary minimum point limits may be changed by the management board of the university.
In decision for accepting students, summation of 50% of ALES (or equivalent), 20% of graduation points and 30% of interview results has to be over 70 points. |

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
The students that were educated at least half of an educational year in the biochemistry department of another university are welcome to apply for changeover to our programme. |

Qualification Requirements and Regulations |
'Biochemistry Master Programme with Thesis' is including at least seven lectures that will have a total value of at least 21 credits. Seminars and thesis have no credit values, instead they will be interpreted as 'passed' or 'failed'. |

Profile of The Programme |
To give general and detailed informations about proteins, carbonhydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, enzymes and hormones, to describe their structures and define the metabolic pathways and their interrelationships about their disorders. |

The graduates will be able to work in national and/or international academic areas. |

Access to Further Studies |
After a succesful graduation from the master programme and getting a proper language examination result, they will be able to have further education and degree in the area. |

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
In this master programme, the examinations are general midterm examinations, final examination and, if necessary, the justification examinations. Those examinations can be in the written, oral or practical. To have the right for entering the exams, the student must contribute 75% of all therotical and practical lectures. All contributions during the term , such as seminary, laboratory practices, gains 40% ,and final exam gains 60% of the total points. To be successful, the student must get at least 70 of 100 points for each examination. |

Graduation Requirements |
To be graduated: Students must have at least 21 credits during the master programme, the average points of therotical and practical lectures must be 2.5 (of 4 in total) and must pass an oral examination of an academic council. |

Facilities |
The devices and equipments in the practical laboratory are: Spectrophotometer, Cell culture laboratory; SDS-PAGE, Western Blot , electrophoresis, RT-PCR, immunassay and immunohistochemistry equipments. In addition to the experimantal laboratory, clinical laboratory of the university hospital is also in use. |
