In this 18 weeks period of time, in order to form the basis for understanding the normal structure and functions of the systems, the main concepts such as the structure-function of the cells, building blocks, and their cycle are taught. Moreover; in this period, the concepts of social service and medicine principles, the use of computer in medical education, health protection, ethics and medical law are discussed. In this period that Multidisciplinary skills training also starts, visits to health institutions are also conducted. Second semester is a 16 weeks period of time that genetic structure, modes of inheritance, embryonic development along with normal structure and function of tissues are conveyed. This semster is completed with the structure and function of blood and immune systems as well as the education in the scope of introduction to microbiology. In the integrated sessions, a view from different perspectives related to the committees is attempted to be created. The Second Year is carried out on the basis of the systems and it is aimed to give the normal structure and function of the body with samplings that are integrated (horizontally) on the basis of systems and supported (vertically) with clinics. Each system is implemented in the form of 4-, 5- and 6-week committees and vertical integration is provided with case presentations and integrated sessions. In this period, it is aimed to provide skills in the form of Multidisciplinary applications. The Third Year is organized as 5- and 6-week committees and starts with Committee of the Introduction to Clinics and the Stages of Life. In this committee, after the theoretical and practical courses aiming to gain skills of anamnesis taking and physical examination related to system diseases, the stages of the process starting with normal birth follow-up and progressing towards death are evaluated. Starting from Blood-Immune-Tumor Committee and continuing with Circulatory-Respiratory, Urogenital-Endocrine, Digestive-Metabolism, Nerve-Senses-Locomotor and Phases of Life-2 Committees; the aim of other system- based committees is to teach basic pathologies and clinical approaches to diseases related to systems along with infection, infectious agents and basic pharmacology. During this period, bedside applications are also carried out. All students make a presentation every year in their first three years, thus; they get the opportunity to develop the competence to comprehend a subject and to express the information they compile. The presentation is evaluated by the chairperson and vice chairperson of the committee via the pre-prepared checklists and it contributes 5% to the end-of-year achievement score. In the first three years, students participate in various multidisciplinary practices (skills) associated with the boards. The exams for these practices are held at the end of the year and contribute to the success score by 10%. The Fourth and Fifth Years are the period of Clinical Sciences. The education curriculum offered to the students who have been associated with the basic medical knowledge and clinical information in their first three years, is prepared according to the “Medical Education Before Graduation National Core Education Program-2020”. In the Fourth Year that lasts 40 weeks totally, 10-week internships of internal diseases and pediatric health and diseases are followed by 5-week internships of Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology, and Cardiology. The Fifth Year is arranged as 2 and 3-week internships in all clinics and it is aimed that the students will be able to fully learn the necessary information in health issues management, to apply emergency treatment and to reinforce their skills of differential diagnosis and approach to the patient at the end of 42 weeks of internship period. The Sixth Year that is known to be Family Medicine Period (Internship) continues for 52 weeks without any interruption. The main purpose of this period is to provide students with an environment to use the knowledge and skills, that are gained in the first 5 years of Medical School, in clinics and to provide them with experience in the profession before they go into their own medical practices and thus to create an environment in which they can apply the profession in the best standards. |

Examinations are held according to the exam program prepared by the Dean's Office. Students are required to take the exams in the days and hours indicated in the lists prepared according to this program and to bring their student ID cards with them. The components of exam system that is followed in first three years of the program are as follows: 1. Committee Examinations, consisting of theoretical and practical exams,2. Theoretical and practical exams at the end of the first and second semesters,3. Exam of Multidisciplinary Practices4. Make-up exam.Practical Examinations that are held both at the end of each committee and at the end of each semester are in the form of multiple-choice or applied exams which are calculated according to the weight of the course in committee/semester. Theoretical exams are held as a multiple-choice examination in which the number of questions varies from 100 to 200 questions according to the course weight of the committee / semester. Practical exam questions may not be of equal value, but the scoring method is notified to the student during the exam. In multiple-choice theoretical examinations, each question is of equal value and the number of incorrect answers does not affect the number of correct answers (incorrect answer will not take away correct answers). However, “penalty score” is applied in these exams. In the theoretical and practical exams; “Penalty score” can be defined as the difference between the threshold number of the group of questions of each department and correct answers of the student for that group of questions, in case of minimum success( in case that half of the total question cannot be answered by the student) . The evaluation of the exams is done over 100 points and the end-of-year achievement score must be over 60 or above. In case of failing in first three years, the student must repeat the whole year.In the Fourth and Fifth Year, Internship final exams are held via written and oral assessment at the end of the Internship term. The contribution of evaluation during the internship is 20%, and the evaluation at the end of internship period is 80% (arithmetic average of written and oral examination). In case of failure, if the student does not have any attendance problem, he/she is given the right to take a make-up exam on the date determined by the Faculty Administrative Board. The student, who fails the make-up exam, must re-register and repeat the internship. In fourth and fifth years, the students who have to repeat any of internships must do the repetition of the internship at the periods that are approved by Departments and Faculty Administrative Board. If they succeed in these internships, their fifth or sixth year education is started according to the academic calendar. They can take the internships that cannot be taken before in the next academic year.In the Sixth Year (Family Medicine Period), attendance in each internship is mandatory and students are expected to score minimum 40 in the evaluations of the compulsory practices at the end of internships. Students who score less than 40 in the compulsory practices are considered as unsuccessful regardless of their total score and repeat the internship. |
11 | Graduation Requirements | Upon successful completion of six years of education, students are entitled to be graduated with a total of 360 ECTS credits. However, graduates of the Faculty of Medicine, are entitled to obtain their graduation diplomas after the completion of compulsory service upon approval by the Ministry of Health. |
